First Cub Scout Meeting

Nick's first cub scout meeting. He's a Wolf scout. No idea why he's making such a weird face.

FitDay improved!

I've been using FitDay for a long time. Today I logged on to see that they totally revamped the site and it is AWESOME! It tracks your moods, measurements, gives you caloric goals, nutritional goals, and tons of other cool stuff (and all for free).

Check it out: http://www.fitday.com

Another blog?

For anyone who have some interest in hearing about my spiritual thoughts/journey, I have a blog just for that which I am updating frequently: http://helenangel.vox.com

There's an rss feed on Livejournal already set-up:
so you don't even have to leave LJ to read it. =)

The man makes great wallets

Three years ago, Michelle the awesome girl of win took me to a Salvatore Ferragamo store in the posh portion of Sawgrass Mills and surprised me by getting me a beautiful light blue wallet. I will admit that I know little to nothing about designer stuff but 3 yrs later this wallet is still beautiful so I say this man makes damn good wallets! =)

Too early!

Dr. Atheist saw the Early Christmas Invasion first in the UK... and it has now spread to dollar stores in the rural USA! SURELY this is the work of the LHC skewing our reality! (Just kidding. =) But Christmas stuff is up WAY early.)

PS- I get our Christmas tree from RedRock Farm (www.christmastrees.net) They are FANTASTIC and I can't recommend them enough!

Crazy delicious!

Late July Organic Vanilla Bean sandwich cookies are three times more yummy than Oreos (which I loved) and WITHOUT any transfat, high fructose corn syrup, or other yucky stuff. We get them in bulk from Amazon.com and they are wicked delicious (and Kosher and vegan, too)

I wrote this on Nick's chalkboard in his room. He borrowed my phone to take some pictures & the sweet boy took a bunch of my little note. =)

Canadian PM Dissolves Parliament??

The Canadian PM used a loophole to dissolve Parliament today:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/09/07/canada.elections.ap/index.html

What do all you Canadians out there think about this? Personally, I'd be FURIOUS if anything remotely like that happened in the US but I know politics there are different.

Best quote ever

I found this quote on the NYTimes and had to share:
"Yeah but if the kids are playing Wii, then they'll obsess on tennis andbecome rabid, obsessed tennis players, eventually set to attack otherswith tennis rackets."

For the lolz

My my my, how interesting and tabloid-esque this whole American presidential race is. The only reason I'm paying attention is for the LOLZ. Politics in US is serious bizznezz. -LOL-

I wish I could take it seriously but I just can't. It's just too filled with mindless partisan bickering and OMG VOTE 4 MY TEAM THE OTHER GUY SUCKS. At the heart of this election, there is something even more disturbing driving it: prejudice. Be it racism, homophobia, intellectual elitism, hypocrisy, spiritual superiority, religious elitism- that is what is going to drive most people to their votes this year. It makes me sick.

I should disable comments because I know it will turn into a slam-fest against whichever side you don't like, but I can't do that on my phone. Comment at your own risk. ;)
